Latest Express Entry draw invites 3,000 candidates with CRS score 451 and above.

The latest Express Entry draw on June 1st invited 3,000 candidates across all programs. All invited candidates have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 451 or above. This draw focused on all eligible categories including Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Updated study permit requirements and financial proof thresholds effective July 2024.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced new study permit regulations effective July 1st, 2024. New financial proof requirements have been updated to align with current cost of living. Students must now demonstrate CAD $45,000 for first year tuition and living expenses, increased from CAD $40,000.

Ontario and British Columbia have both announced increased intake targets for their Provincial Nominee Programs. Ontario is targeting 4,000 nominations in 2024, while BC aims for 3,500 nominations. These programs offer an accelerated pathway to permanent residence for skilled professionals with job offers.

IRCC reduces average processing time for family sponsorship applications to 24 months.

Immigration authorities have reduced the average processing time for family sponsorship applications. Spouse/partner sponsorships now process in approximately 6 months, while other family members average 12-24 months depending on complexity of the application.
